One lovely October weekend we took a drive up through the region of Alsace, France. The vineyards were in full, uh, grapeness, and the little winding road was sprinkled with the most precocious germanic french towns. Having small children in tow barely even dampened our excitement. Really.
So I used to live in Germany, for, like, four years, and it took me almost three years to stop beginning each conversation with "One time? In Germany?" a la American Pie.
